Just thought I’d share this link with a review of our performance at The Riverside festival this past weekend, along with reviews of all the other bands and goings on at the festival.

Resin reach the final of Battle of the Bands

Another awesome gig for Resin the day after Riverside festival in Derby at Nono8. 8 bands played the heat, 3 going through to the final in 2 weeks on 24th June, with the winner opening the Hard Rock Calling festival at Hyde park.
All the acts on the day put in great performances with my favourite being Steve Faulker. After the audience vote, and count up, the winners were announced. The winners on the day were local band The Suns, second was Steve Faulkner, and coming in 3rd was us – Resin!!!
So for the final (Sunday 24th June), we are asking all our fans to make the journey to Derby and give us your support. If you really love this band, and want us to do well, this is your big chance to help us. Part of the final is audience votes, so we need as many as we can.
We will be in touch with more details soon, cheers for now.

Amazing gig at the Riverside Festival for Resin

Yesterday we played the Riverside festival in Leicester. What a fantatstic gig!!! Massive stage giving us plenty of room to do the thing we love, and excellent crowd who really seemed to get into what we do (we love you!). We walked of stage feeling exhilerated and exhausted, always a sign of a good gig. So thank you people of Leicester, we’ll see you again soon.
Today we are off to Derby to The Sun Lounge to compete for a support slot with The Boss at Hyde park.

Resin on BBC Radio Leicester!!

Yes you read that right. Today we were interviewed on BBC Radio Leicester by Holly Bell (standing in for Sally Pepper), talking about what we’ve been upto, what the future holds, but mainly to perform our song Clouds live in the studio, and plug our 3 gigs this weekend at the Riverside Festival, Hinckley United and battling to win a support slot with Bruce Springstein.
You can listen to the interview here (but only for the next week and if you live in the UK)7

Resin return with a set for Charity

Last night we returned from our little break to play at a Charity gig for Whizz kidz with Danny Greet, Chris Conway and Lysergic Suite.
Plenty of money was made for Whizz Kidz, who’s aim is to ensure that every disabled child has an opportunity to be something special…a kid.
There are an estimated 70,000 disabled children and young people in the UK waiting for a wheelchair that fits their young lives. That’s where we come in. Whizz-Kidz provides disabled children with the essential wheelchairs and other mobility equipment they need to lead fun and active childhoods.

Bit of a break

Hey people,
We have decided to take a bit of a break for the rest of April and most of May, get some new song written, get the website up and going, print TShirts etc etc.
We will still be booking plenty of gigs for the summer, so watch this space.
Cheers

We are Arts In Leicester’s Band of the Month

That’s right, we are band of the month for March 2012. Part of the deal is being interviewed. Here’s what happened:-
Artsin: Hello Resin. Tell us a bit about your band. When did you get going?
Resin: The line up we have now has been together for 18 months; we hopefully will have the fifth member soon. It’s been a long haul – getting the right mix of people and the last piece in the jigsaw i.e. the drummer, will make us complete.
We have a good feeling the drummer position will be filled in the near future. We’ve met and rehearsed with some drummers. There will be a name to this slot very soon.
Artsin: So, how did you guys come together? How did you all get into the band?
Resin: Sime and Chez met James when they were both leaning against the bar one night doing open mics. W”e started doing Alice in Chains covers together, after listening to James sing an original Afrikaans song at one of those nights. We asked him to learn an AIC song that we could perform as a threesome.
James:I’d always wanted to do more of this style of music but never had the right musicians around me to do so. When Chez and Sime came over with free beer I knew it was the right move! From this we got asked to do some gigs, so got a friend to drum and another to play bass for a couple of years. It was only when Sev came along …
Sev: Yeah, I got asked to come and try out for bass around September 2010, but due to other band commitments I don’t think I actually played a note with Resin until November.
Chez: I already knew Sev, as we were playing in a hardcore band called HT76.
Sev: I guess they liked how I played so I got asked to join. That and my facial hair fitted the band look. It then started to feel like we had something special but by this time we had said goodbye to our long term drummer. Thankfully, Leicester local Alex Gamble filled in for us, to honour the gigs we had booked which pretty much brings us up to today!
